"Candidia"
Stan Finley sends me this link to Polo Ralph Loren's Corporate Philanthropy site.
In 1998, Polo Ralph Lauren pledged $10 million to conserve and preserve the Star-Spangled Banner, the flag that inspired our national anthem. The donation, and an additional $3 million in-kind contribution for promotion, kicked off the Save America's Treasures campaign to celebrate the nation's past and preserve it for future generations.
I am so fucking sick of business being criticized. Look, we take the money and keep it and you sissy-liberals call us crass and rapacious. We give it away and you say it is cynical, self-serving, that it is a feel good PR gesture. No good deed goes unpunished. Screw the naysayers, Ralph; the Star-Spangled Banner is an American Icon, see if you can get your Ponies all over it in lieu of Stars. I mean the battle flag is shot full of holes. Use Ponies as Patches. Donate them at no cost.
