Is Truth stripped of her garments, ashamed? I had said so, but Curtiss, in the comment section, corrects me:
Truth looks dead on and laughs loudest and last. But just as some men are only born posthumously, her laughter can only be heard in the future. Some philosophers of the future can hear it. We are the ones who should be embarassed.
Actually, when I said that Authentic Speech is ashamed when we strip her of her poetic garments, I did mean, in part, that she is ashamed for us. It is not Poetry's pollution the critic reveals, but his own.
